The United Way of 1000 Lakes is nearing the end of its annual campaign, with less than a month to raise funds for the 27 local agencies it supports. United Way of 1000 Lakes recently received a donation of $1,500 from American Bank. American Bank also conducted an annual campaign in the fall, which raised $3,500.

Amy Trast and Jennifer Baker of American Bank presented the check to United Way Board members, Wendy Uzelac, RE/MAX Thousand Lakes; and Ken Kinsey, Essar Steel on Thursday.

“We’re thrilled to receive this gift from American Bank and to see our support grow this year thanks to several new corporate donations,” said United Way Executive Director Kimberly Brink Smith. “It makes me proud to be a part of our community and a part of our United Way to see such compassion for others in greater Itasca.”

To date, United Way has raised a total of $284,000 or 93 percent of its annual goal of $305,000. United Way reminds donors that while contributions are welcomed throughout the year, individuals who have not yet contributed are encouraged to make their donation now.

“Last year, one in three of our neighbors used a program funded by United Way.” Smith concluded.
